As The Narrative Turns - From the HCSO IGA to a Mayor Orchestrated Recall

Amazing how the NARRATIVE changes.

Remember when a judge ruled Huerfano County persistently failed to follow Colorado law to such a degree that public safety is impaired ?

If a judge determined the sheriff wasn't doing their job properly why is the County demanding a cost increase to the citizens of Walsenburg ?

Walsenburg residents already pay the entire 1% unrestricted sales tax towards law enforcement, and it is not enough, so the majority of property tax collected goes towards law enforcement as well.

It seems to me Walsenburg deserves a refund on the law enforcement IGA for breach of contract. Their performance definitely doesn't deserve a 20-30% increase.

Many on the City Council agree.

The Law Enforcement IGA is just one issue where Mayor Bryant's employers have acted in less than good faith and it is no coincidence the recall effort coincides with City Council refusal to sell out the citizens of Walsenburg.

Beyond the False Narrative - Contracts, Ethics, and a Mayor who Ignores the Law

Per the City Attorney and in keeping with guidance from the Colorado Municipal League and Colorado Independent Ethics Commission:

“The contracts awarded to Council member Daniels and Council member Martinez were based on competitive bidding and do not constitute conflicts of interest where they did not vote or attempt to influence the city council on the matter.”

but don’t listen to the legal professionals… the Mayor, a County Commissioner, and a librarian obviously know better.

Read the Memo and learn the truth because the Positive Future for Walsenburg Committee certainly doesn't want you to KNOW THE WHOLE TRUTH!
